Heartsaver CPR/AED gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing and cardiac emergencies until advanced medical personnel arrive. This American Heart Association course certifies individuals in CPR/AED for adults, children and infants and is valid for two years.
This course can be taken either in a traditional classroom setting, a blended learning setting (with some online coursework required before an in-person skill session), or an on-site location. The exact same 2-year certification is administered for each type of session.
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course trains participants to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements, o anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.

The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) course is designed to train healthcare professionals in recognizing and responding to life-threatening emergencies. Nearly all Healthcare workers are required to have at least this BLS class. Skills include: Providing 1 and 2 rescuer CPR/AED for adults, children, and infants, using an Automated External Defibrillator, and relieving choking.

The eLearning portion of the Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED blended learning course is designed to teach students the cognitive information needed for pediatric first aid, CPR, and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete a hands-on skills session (sold separately) with an AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor.

The HeartCode BLS is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the BLS Course. HeartCode blended learning delivers quality resuscitation education regardless of where providers are located and gives them more control to complete the course at their own pace. Providers first complete the online portion of HeartCode BLS and then complete a hands-on skills session with an AHA BLS Instructor or on a simulation station.
